Chad Hansen is Chair Professor of Chinese Philosophy, Emeritus at the University of Hong Kong where he has taught for 30 years. He has previously held regular positions at the University of Pittsburgh and University of Vermont. He has been honored with visiting appointments around the world, including Hawaii, UCLA, Stanford, U of Michigan, U of Auckland, NUS Singapore, and Smith College. Hansen took his BA at the U of Utah and Ph.D. at the University of Michigan. He is the author of Language and Logic in Ancient China and of A Daoist Theory of Chinese Thought, and is the translator of Tao Te Ching, and he is the co-editor of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Taoism.
